Destructive forces will reduce your home to rubble in a few short hours. The image above shows how our hurricane panels look when installed into a typical roof structure.
The STORMLOCK SYSTEM is unparalleled in its ability to resist the massive onslaught of mother nature's awesome power. Standing constant vigil over your home like an invisible force field, providing peace of mind in a world filled with danger and uncertainty.
These panels when installed to manufacturers specifications, will transform your home into a virtual fortress. When the panels are locked together they maintain a GOLIATH like grip on all critical structural components, which are typically prone to failure. Panels can accommodate all roof designs, rafter pitch, and dimension, whilst remaining totally hidden from view. The system is designed to accommodate a 16" on center rafter layout.
Protecting your home, family and cherished possessions are of paramount importance. Some of these destructive hurricane force winds have no mercy on anything in their path. For years we have had to endure the relentless devastating effects of these superstorms that we've been powerless to prevent. After years of research and testing at our facility based in Connecticut, we have finally developed a system that can truly stand up to some of the most destructive forces imaginable.
Typical timber framed homes across the United States have been using PRIMITIVE out of date construction methods for decades, that have not kept pace with the modern day demands placed on them. Complex weather systems of ever increasing frequency, duration and ferocity wreak havoc on our communities, creating death and destruction, sometimes with little or no warning. All that is about to change with the introduction of the new STORMLOCK SYSTEM.
Researchers at our testing facility have pored over hours of hurricane footage and carried out extensive forensic examination of construction debris in search of clues that would pinpoint the exact nature and cause of so many structural failures. We were finally able to identify the underlying cause, poor connectivity between rafters and top plate. Armed with this information we were now able to tame these deadly forces. Hence the birth of the STORMLOCK SYSTEM.
The STORMLOCK SYSTEM was born out of necessity. Why was the most technologically advanced nation on earth still building homes with little or no consideration for the massive increase in catastrophic weather systems that have shown no mercy for anything in their path.
FINDING THE SOLUTION
We discovered that a thin sliver of metal (rafter tie) that has been building code standard for some time now simply DOESN'T WORK. The only thing it did do was provide a false sense of security, and will eventually be phased out to make way for the new generation of home protection systems developed here at STORMLOCK.
NEXT GENERATION PROTECTION
The STORMLOCK SYSTEM is comprised of a series of interconnected panels that bond all the connections of your roof together. Each panel is manufactured from high strength heavy gauge galvanized steel. Panels measure 16 inches long X 12 inches high. They are designed to fit snugly between rafters, flush with outside walls where they can provide maximum protection. Panels are secured in place using 16x one inch and a half # 8 galvanized hex head screws (not supplied).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR NEW CONSTRUCTION
It is important to note that the following steps are necessary for installing panels into newly constructed homes. You must insure that when roof sheathing ply is installed, the first course is positioned slightly higher up, so that bottom edge of ply extends no further than outside wall. This is simply achieved by snapping a line across rafters, gable to gable directly in lining with wall, this allows the panels t sit flush with edge of roof sheathing and wall, (see diagram). Once this has been accomplished, simply tap panels snugly into position with a block and hammer, and secure in place. First and last panels may have to be custom cut to desired length, using snips to ensure a perfect fit.
HOW MANY PANELS DO I NEED?
To figure this out is quite straightforward. For every four feet of run you will need three panels. Here's an example, measure the eave side of your house, (the gutter side) let's say it's 60 ft, that would require 45 panels, then add the other side 45+45=90 plus any dormers you may have.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR EXISTING HOMES
This procedure is the same as new construction, except for one extra step. You need to remove a small strip of the existing roof to allow the panels to be installed. Details of this simple procedure are included in the installation manual, which will be shipped with your order.
Please contact our dedicated sales team with any questions or concerns you may have regarding the STORMLOCK panels. We can answer any technical, sales or availability enquiries you may have. The loss of one human life is unacceptable, and failure is not an option. We will continue to push the boundaries of human creativity and understanding of these powerful weather systems untill we achieve perfection. Having the system installed can greatly improve energy costs, by means of thermal transfer mitigation and convection, allowing your home to remain cooler in summer and warmer in winter thereby reducing energy needs.
We no longer need to put up with uninvited visitors in our attic. The STORMLOCK SYSTEM puts an end to those pesky little critters, like racoons, squirrels and birds etc from living rent free up in the attic, chewing through wires and insulation causing extensive damage to your property and stored possessions, not to mention the foul odors and disease. The system completely blocks off access to any potential visitors by installing the roof panels.
Having the system installed in your home will greatly improve its value, just like other features, e.g., whole house generators, alarm systems and so on. The difference is that the STORMLOCK SYSTEM helps to maintain your property by minimising stress, ice dams and rodent related soffit damage. Having the system installed may even lower homeowners insurance, check with your provider.
When it comes time to selling your home, potential buyers will realise that having a hurricane damage protection system installed is a great asset, just like a whole house generator, burglar alarm, etc. As your realtor will point out the STORMLOCK SYSTEM provides not only hurricane protection, but continued maintenance against stress, ice dams and rodent soffit damage. These are major factors in property value assessments. Hurricane roof panels are a valuable asset
The system provides a band of steel across all rafters and structural components, gable to gable, like a giant wrapping his arms around your home protecting it from stress, distortion and settlement, in area's subject to seismic activity.
Many areas across the US are subject to heavy snowfall, particularly northern states bordering Canada, have experienced a more dense and heavier wet snow in recent times. This has resulted in a higher incidence rate of roof collapse due to extreme stress applied to roof structures. Conventional roof framing is not designed to adequately support such an increase in pressure and ultimately results in failure.
